Baby Dedications
At Restoration Foursquare Church, we believe that children are a gift from God (Psalm 127:3). Baby Dedication is a beautiful and meaningful opportunity for parents or guardians to make a public commitment before God, the church, and your family to raise your child in the love and truth of Jesus Christ.
Why Baby Dedications?
Baby Dedication is not a baptism or a guarantee of salvation, but a public declaration of intent by the parent(s). In dedicating your child, you are:
Acknowledging that your child ultimately belongs to God.
Committing to raise your child with biblical values and in the ways of Jesus.
Asking for the prayers and support of your church family.
Trusting the Holy Spirit to guide you as you lead your child in faith.
We believe this step lays a foundation for your child’s future spiritual journey, praying that one day they will personally choose to follow Jesus Christ.
Why Do We Dedicate Children?
Throughout Scripture, we see examples of parents dedicating their children to the Lord:
Hannah and Samuel: Hannah dedicated her son to the Lord, saying, “As long as he lives, he is lent to the Lord” (1 Samuel 1:27–28).
Joseph and Mary with Jesus: Mary and Joseph presented Jesus at the temple, following the law of the Lord (Luke 2:22).
Jesus and the children: Jesus welcomed children, saying, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 19:14).
These passages remind us that children are precious to God and that parents have a sacred responsibility to lead them toward Him.
What Does This Mean for Parents?
By dedicating your child, you are publicly expressing your desire and responsibility to spiritually lead and nurture them in cooperation with the Holy Spirit. This includes:
Modeling a life of faith, prayer, and devotion to God.
Teaching your child about Jesus and His Word (Deuteronomy 6:6–7).
Encouraging them to love God and love others as they grow (Mark 12:30–31).
Trusting God with their life, future, and calling.
What Does This Mean for the Church?
Baby Dedication is also a commitment from our church family. As your child grows, we stand with you - encouraging, supporting, and praying for your family. You are not alone in this journey. Together, we want to see every child grow in faith, love, and devotion to Jesus.
Celebration of Dedication
Baby Dedications are a special celebration where parents present their child before the Lord, and the church community joins in prayer and blessing. It is a joyful time of recognizing God’s gift of life and His plans for the next generation.
We are excited to celebrate with you as you dedicate your child to the Lord. Our prayer is that your child will one day personally put their faith in Jesus, growing in love for God and others.
